API (eCommerce Link)

API’s or ‘Application Programming Interfaces’ are web tools which allow developers of third party web-sites or applications to share information with other systems. The SalesStream Cloud EPOS API allows you to connect your web-site or other software you may use within your business to your SalesStream data.

API allows your developer to take advantage of the powerful Multi-Location Real-Time Stock Control features within SalesStream and concentrate on making an attractive and user-friendly design which will please your customers and increase sales.

Your developers can gain the following information about your Products/Inventory, such as:

  • Product Description
  • Sizing + Colour Information
  • Stock Level (this can be a single location or total of stock across any number of branches/stores – as specified by yourself)
  • Any of the 6 User Defined Fields which can hold any data you wish i.e. Ingredients for food, Material in fashion, ABV (%) for alcohol

Integration projects are extremely diverse as all businesses have subtlety different requirements.  We are extremely willing and happy to speak directly to your web or third party software developers, please feel free to get them to contact us using our Contact Form.

The ‘Technical Bit’

Web APIs are the defined interfaces through which interactions happen between an enterprise and applications that use its assets. An API approach is an architectural approach that revolves around providing programmable interfaces to a set of services to different applications serving different types of consumers.

When used in the context of web development, an API is typically defined as a set of Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) request messages, along with a definition of the structure of response messages, which is usually in an Extensible Markup Language (XML) or JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format.
